option to use either icons or an Explorer like "tree view" for people
and equipment.
• Additionally, the icon area at the left has tabs for People & Equipment
as well as supplies.
• You may select multiple fields with the <Shift> or <Ctrl>
keys and then apply the selected people, equipment and supplies to the selected
fields. This streamlines the process of entering field records.
• The number of acres/hectares farmed may be changed in the Farming box.
• The Farming box now allows you to enter the number of acres to which each
supply is applied. This streamlines the process of planting more than one variety
in the same field.
• The Farming worksheet (printed from the Farming box) is now in a grid
format and the report always fits your page regardless of how many fields or supplies
are used.
• The Analysis Percentages for fertilizer can now handle up to three decimal
places for the percentage.
• Chemical reports reflect the total amount applied for share crop fields.
Farm Stock:
• (The Farm Stock portion of Version 8.0 is expected to be released in late
November)
• Farm Stock has an all-new interface.

This gives a much larger screen and an interface that works more closely with
Farm Trac and Funds.
• Farm Stock uses an Explorer like "tree view" for selecting animals
from locations and groups.
• The Blood Lines area can now display and print blood lines for as many
generations as you like.
• The program will allow you to save weights at an unlimited number of different
ages.
• The program gives you the ability to wean and transfer more than one animal

These legends can also be saved as templates for future use.
• Now has the ability to log data from the Micro Trak yield monitor and
the EM38 device.
• Data can be displayed in a color map on the go and logged to a file.
• VRA: Now includes an Advanced Option in which
the program will not log positions when the sprayer boom is turned off

Farm Works 8.2 Update
All Programs:
• Version 8.20 includes the new Flash Tutorials for Farm Trac and Farm Funds.
The tutorial is fully animated and includes voice. Future tutorials for the other
programs will be coming later this year. The CD still includes the old tutorial
for Site and the other programs and the new tutorial actually links to the old
tutorial so they run as one. The tutorial can also be run from the Help menu inside
Farm Works.
• All Helps have been updated to match the latest version of the program.
Farm Trac:
• Farm Trac has an all-new interface for entering field records. You now
have the option to use either icons or an Explorer like "tree view"
for people and equipment. Additionally, the icon area at the left has tabs for
People & Equipment as well as supplies.
• The Fertilizer Analysis can now go out to three decimal places.
• The Fertilizer Report will now print larger numbers for total applied
(previously it would only handle quantities up to 9,999).
• Increased the number of characters for field names on the Chemical Report
so long field names now will print.
• Changed the Fertilizer report so that crops that are in Field Prep show
up with a blank crop instead of the previous crop on the report.
• Fixed problem where the "Item Does not Change Background Color"
option did not work for colors and patterns on equipment.
• Changed the icon tree-view screen so that newly purchased or setup (from
Initial Setup) icons show up in the list immediately.
• Fixed problems where printing maps with legends would sometimes cause
error messages. These error messages sometimes happened while performing other
functions after printing.
Farm Fund$:
• Accounts with zero balances can be deleted. If the account has entries
posted to it, it will be hidden so that it still shows up on reports when it had
a balance, but it won't show up for purchases, sales and other entries.
• The program uses 2002 Federal and Social Security Withholding rates/tables.
• Forms 1099 and W-2 match the new 2001 format.
• Fixed a problem where the budget comparative report printed differently
(it left off lines that had 0 budget but an actual amount) when printed from the
menu versus when printed from inside the Budget dialog box.
• Increased font size on invoices.
• Changed the program so you can enter Farming Actions while you are in
Initial Setup.
• Added Missouri State Withholding taxes to the State Tax setup.
• Fixed the Unrecorded Outstanding Checks box (in the bank reconciliation)
for outstanding checks that are from before the start date of Farm Funds.
• You can now delete lines from the Manual Journal Entry box before recording.
• A condense button has been added to the Manual Journal Entry box so accounts
can be selected by folder/category.
• When you close a year-end, the program will not let you close if a piece
of equipment will be over-depreciated. The warning message now lists the name(s)
of the equipment.
• Changed the Other Expense and Other Revenue boxes so that negative allocations
made to multiple enterprises will split between all selected enterprises.
• Made the Bank Reconciliation box wider so that numbers to the right of
the decimal place do not get cut off.
• The "Check Setup" box now allows you to specify a different
printer for check printing. Thus you can use one printer for printing checks and
another for reports.
• The Payroll area has a new "Time and Pay" window that speeds
up the processing of payroll.
• The program has a new "Time Sheet" area where you can enter
up to seven starting and stopping times for each employee. The program will then
compute the hours worked from this information.
• Payroll has a new "Time and Pay Summary" report that includes
signature lines for the employee and employer in English and in Spanish, as required
under H-2a laws.
• The Loan Payment box now allows you to allocate Interest Expense to enterprises.
Farm Site & Site Pro:
• Farm Site now has a new "Information" tab on the left side of
the screen. When you select a single point or area this displays all the attributes
for the selected item. When more than one area or point is selected, a button
allows you to display the total, average, maximum or minimum for the values of
the selected items.
• Farm Site now includes a "Layers" window that lists all the
layers that are being displayed. You can right-click on any layer and activate
a number of features such as Layer Display, Edit Legend, and Show Me.
• Changed the program so that contoured views of point data can now be copied
to another layer. Contour lines can be copied to an area layer and used to define
VRA Rates and other information.
• Changed the coordinates so that maps made in New Zealand will now show
up.
• Changed the point display so that points will not default to being outlined
when the Clip to boundary option is used.

of lines.
• Changed the program so that it won't crash if you print a map with a contoured
view of point data with a histogram.
• Layer data that has "Field" for the type are included in ArcView
Shape File exports.
• The Crop Summary Report in Site Pro now prints totals for area and yield.
• Archived Layer names can now included spaces.
• Changed Quick Yields so it looks for existing layers by the selected layer
and category. Previously we searched for the first layer found in the first category,
which wasn't always the correct layer (when the same layer name is used in multiple
categories).
• Changed Quick Yields so that it will now always autodetect Case AFS and
some PF3000 yield data (so it won't ask what type of yield data you're importing).
• Changed Quick Yields so that yield data with bad GPS times will not be
stacked on top of each other. This related to yield data collected with the Ag
Leader GPS receiver.
• Changed Quick Yields so that Micro Trac Flag/Marker data can be imported.
• Changed Quick Yields for problems where in rare cases some Ag Leader data
would not import unless each field is imported individually.
• Fixed problems where printing maps with legends would sometimes cause
error messages. These error messages sometimes happened while performing other
functions after printing.

from locations and groups.
• The Blood Lines area can now display and print blood lines for as many
generations as you like.

ages.
• The program gives you the ability to wean and transfer more than one animal
at a time.

Version 8.3 Update Features
The following is a list of changes that were included in Version 8.3, which
was released in May 7, 2002 (this is in addition to the changes made in version
8.0- 8.2).
Farm Trac:
• Fix Notations so "acres" no longer has an extra "s"
on the end.
• Fixed bug where entering total acres (for equipment with acres as the
charge unit) would copy the quantity to all fields instead of pro-rating based
on field sizes.
• Fixed the inventory quantity being recalculated in the Farming box whenever
the area farmed was changed.
• Fixed bug where clicking inside the "Area Farmed" of the Farming
box would reset the Actual Rate to the Expected Rate.
• Changed Copy Project so copying Supplies only now includes REI information.
Farm Funds:
• The Invoice/Statement report has been reformatted to include due dates
and comments (that are entered in the dialog box before the statement is printed).
The report will also summarize harvested crop sales so fields are not listed.
The report is now formatted so it will fit in window envelopes.
• The General Ledger Detail Report now includes check numbers.
• Narrowed the width of some columns on the Account Register so it will
fit better when printed on some printers.
• Changed the Budget Setup box and Budget Reports so they accounts are listed
alphabetically.
• Fixed date range on people enterprise statements so that the hours worked
are only for the dates on the report not all time.
• Changed the W-2 box so it only lists the employees that were paid in the
year to be reported (employees terminated in a prior year are no longer listed).
• Changed the W-2 box so the Print button is not the default button because
it is too easy to send the W-2's directly to the printer.
• Changes to support new magnetic media reporting of W-2 data.
• Allow using the enter key to close the W-2 dialog box.
• Increased the column width in the Batch Print checks box so that the scrollbar
does not cut off the cents on dollar amounts.
• The Employee Summary Report dialog box now lists people in alphabetical
order, last name first.
• Changed the Feed box so it no longer lists deleted supplies.
• Fixed bug where renaming a checking account would cause loss of the last
reconciliation date.
• Fixed pictures on the Calculate Pay and Payroll worksheet buttons on the
Time and Pay dialog box to match the pictures on the Payroll toolbar.
• Animal Loss box now uses the date in the Dialog box (before it always
used the Working Date).
Farm Site & Site Pro:
• Changed the way layers are loaded so layers with a large number of lines
display substantially faster. This affects soil type layers with large numbers
of small lines.
• Changed Line Widths so they work with metrics.
• Fixed Transparent Backgrounds so it works properly.
• Changed the Shape File import routine so columns that have blank names
do not cause problems in the program.
• Changed the Shape File import routine so columns with duplicate header
names do not cause problems in the program.
Farm Site Mate:
• Tee Jet controller read back fixed so that only complete records are parsed.
• Hiniker controller now has option to use or not use the Ag Leader snapshot
protocol.
• Added Hardi controller.
• Added Kvernland controller.
• The program asks "Are you sure" before deleting objects.
• Site Mate can now run from a PC Card.
• Allow Implement switch on any comm port not just the port the GPS is plugged
into. This means you can use a Navman with the implement switch plugged into Com
1 (before the implement switch had to be plugged into the same Com port as the
GPS receiver).
Farm Trac Mate:
• Changed the program so when you edit a supply usage that was applied to
less than the entire field it no longer defaults back to the entire field.
• Added "Expected Rate" for supply usage. This stops the problem
where the program was computing expected rates and the quantities would change
from field to field due to rounding.
• Changed harvested crops so quantities harvested can have three decimal
places.
• Updated the layout of the scale ticket box and buttons used.
• Conversion to fix people with $0.00 cost from Trac Mate. There was a bug
in the past where the cost for people (from Funds) did not get applied to the
fields where the people worked (if the hours were entered in Trac Mate). Version
8.3 includes a conversion to fix these (prior hours will have a cost applied to
them).
Version 8.4 Update Features
The following is a list of changes that were included in Version 8.4, which
was released on September 10, 2002 (this is in addition to the changes made in
version 8.0- 8.3).
All Programs:
• Registration may now be done completely over the internet with registration
numbers automatically e-mailed back 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• A translation utility has been created so dealers and others can easily
translate and localize the software.
Farm Trac & Site Pro:
• A new Seed Variety report that includes; field, variety, planting rate
and total quantity has been added.
• Updated the Supply Properties for fertilizers so you can have an unlimited
number of nutrients that are user definable (previously you were limited to just
N, P, & K).
• The Pointer Tool now has four different uses (available through a drop-down
on the button):
• Standard "Rectangle" which is what it
has always done
• "Circle" which allows you to select
a circular area by clicking
in the center of the circle and dragging
out to make the circle
bigger
• "Polygon" which allows you to left click
around an irregular shaped
area and right-click to select everything
inside that area. This
option will be very important when
selecting an area within a
yield map.
• "Invert Selection" which selects everything
outside the
highlighted area
• A "Measure Tool" has been added. This tool works like the "Multi-line
Tool". You left-click to draw a "measuring line". The distance
of the line is displayed at the bottom of the screen. When you right-click, the
measuring line goes away.
• The "Circle Tool" now has two different uses (available through
a drop-down on the button):
• "Diameter" which is what the circle
tool has always done where
you draw a circle by clicking on the
outside and dragging.
• "Radius" which allows you to draw a
circle by clicking in the center
of the circle and dragging out to make
the circle bigger.
• Changed the Tool Window (Supplies, Equipment, Information & Layers)
so it now defaults to the last tab that was opened (each time you start the program).
• Added an option for "Bicubic Interpolation" for images in the
Calibrate program.
• Changed the conversion from Purchased to Distributed Units so that it
no longer truncates numbers with decimal place.
Farm Funds:
• Check numbers can now work with characters. This means you can build a
list for check numbers such as ATM, Debit Card, and other entries that have no
check number.
• A new Bin Activity report that lists grain in and out of a storage location
has been added.
• The Budget box and report now lists accounts in alphabetical order.
• Payments & Purchases, and Income & Sales boxes now list the Journal
Entry that will be used for the transaction so this can be referenced on an invoice
or check.
• Changed the Loan Payment & Other Expense boxes so you can now use
the Tab key to go from the top section to the bottom (Enterprise) section.
• Changed the program so it no longer fills in "0.00" in data
entry boxes that are for currency. This means users no longer have to delete the
amounts before typing (when using a mouse).
• VAT/GST now includes a User ID. For users in the UK, the program has been
configured to include "Box Numbers" for totals on the report. The report
was also fixed so it no longer gets cut off on the right.
• Changed the program so it works with all currencies supported by Windows.
• Changed the Field Activity Report to include landlord share in total quantity
harvested.
• Changed the calculation of payroll wages on People enterprise statements
to only include pay during the date range of the report.
Farm Site & Site Pro:
• Added direct import of Green Star data (.gsy file) from card.
• Each layer can now have a Farm, Field, Year, Crop and Category (where
category can include things such as yield, soil tests, soil types, etc…).
• Layer Management allows users to sort by Farm, Field, Year Crop and Category.
You can select as many of these as you like to sort by. This makes it easier to
find and use the layers that you want!
• The Calibrate program can now download images directly from the internet.
Just type in a known coordinate on the map (or capture a coordinate from previously
created maps such as government road & waterway maps) and the map will automatically
be downloaded from the internet and will be calibrated with GPS. These maps will
automatically line up with any other GPS maps that you have (including road &
waterway maps).
• The program allows you to change "Text" data on a layer to "Choice".
When this is done the program will build a choice list of all the data on the
layer. This is useful for soil type data and data collected with Site Mate. With
past versions of Farm Site & Site Pro you could not make a legend on soil
type data that was imported as a shape file or Site Mate text data. With the new
feature, you can go to Layer Management and right-click on the layer and select
"Properties" and change the "text" attribute to "choice"
and then make your legend.
• The Calibrate program supports the direct loading of tfw, jpw and bpw
files. The Calibrate program uses the GPS referencing that is included to automatically
calibrate the map.
• Changed Exported Shape Files so they now include Yes/No attributes.
• Fixed the "Import as Lines" option so it works properly in the
Quick Yields Import.
• Changed UTM display to use the selected datum not always NAD83.
Farm Site Mate:
• Site Mate includes Calibrate program that allows users to load images
and calibrate them (if necessary). These images can then be transferred directly
to Site Mate on a Pocket PC or other device from the Calibrate program (without
using Windows Explorer).
• Geo-referenced .jpg and .bmp maps that come from the Calibrate program
can be loaded as background maps.
• Added total length of multiple paths as an option on the right click menu.
• Added Farm Scan controller to VRA list.
• Added Krone counter module use for logging data from flow meters.

• Modified LH Agro controller so the program can now read the as applied
data being sent back by the controller.
• Added support for updated Kverneland controller.
• Created a version of Site Mate for the Raven Viper.
• Fixed MT 9000 to support the unit going to PHOLD instead of 0 for the
rate
• Changes to handle version 1.0.0 of the Micro Trak GeoMarker that output
the wrong number of bytes for the yield record.
