Creating a Custom Report Showing Calves with Their Sire and Dam

It's easy to create a custom report showing animals and their parents. Basically you need three columns - one for the Offspring and one for each of his parents. You can of course add additional information as well. Although you can use Farm Stock to manage any type of livestock, we'll use cattle for this example.

For a simple Calf with Parents report:

1. Click ADD to create a new report. Click Report Info button to give the report a title.
2. Click on the Link button and choose Parents.
3. Add Column. Choose Animal ID. Then enter a Header Name such as "Calf" or "Animal". If you want to change the alignment of the data in the column data you can do that as well. Otherwise click OK. This will bring up the Link box. Choose Parent:Animal
4. Add Column. Again choose Animal ID and enter a Header Name for the first parent (like "Dam" or "Sire") and click OK. This time choose Parent:Father or Mother. Click OK.
5. Add Column. Choose Animal ID and enter the Column/Header name. In the Link Box, choose the other parent. Click ok.
6. Click Record.

The new report will now be shown in the report list. Highlight the report name and select Print. This will then bring up a window to set any ranges for display. You may select specific groups, locations, etc. To print all animals do not select any ranges. Just click Print and the report will appear on your screen.
