TIP: Farm Site
Overlaying a Soil Map onto an Averaged Yield Map
See the tutorial on your Farm Works CD for
step-by-step instructions on how to average polygons for
yield data based on soil types. You can also use the online
tutorials. From the tutorials main menu, select Farm Site
then Advanced Options, then Average Polygons. This will
show you the process with on-screen and voice instructions.
Here's the basic steps:
-
Load the Soil Type Layer.
-
Rubberband the field, right click and
select Average Polygons.
-
Choose the yield layer that you are averaging
the points by clicking on the Layers button.
-
The field will appear with the areas
colored according to the soil type areas. Select the Show
Legend button. You may also right click to add a label
for the average values.
-
To see the soil types, move the soil
type layer to the top.
-
Again, click on the Show Legend button.
You will now also see the legend for the soil types.
Note: You will need to have the backgrounds as "transparent"
on the soil type layer. This allows the colors for the
average polygons to be seen through the soil type layer.
